Chick Corea: A Listener’s Companion

chick2I have to confess, I’m a total Chick Corea nerd.  Spain was one of the first jazz tunes that I learned and when I realized that we have a birthday in common, I was hooked. Remembering Cynthia Layne

The Number Games

Recently I’ve been experimenting with improvising on a sequence of numbers, usually dates.  For example if the date is 12-31-2014, I’ll translate the numbers into scale degrees and a 0 just means hang on to the last number a bit longer.  (more…)
