A Week in Berlin

2016-10-28 17.37.45This is the second segment of the Sabbatical research semester travels in Europe. I spent this past week in Berlin, the growing cultural and entrepreneurial hotspot in Europe. In fact – just last month more than 5,000 new businesses were registered in Berlin, more than anywhere else in Germany. As part of the ongoing research on the Jam Session Model for Entrepreneurship the creative scene in Berlin seemed the perfect place for further inquiry and explorations. (more…)

A Week in Vienna

IMG_0306The second part of my Sabbatical Semester (a wonderful invention for academics) is research projects and workshops in Europe on “The Jam Session Model for Group Creativity and Entrepreneurship”. Teaneck Sound and Pasta – In Her Hands!

After nearly two weeks of touring, The Whole World in Her Hands band was ready to enter the recording studio last Monday for three days of creating magic. Making a new album is exciting, demanding, nerve-wrecking, expensive – a grand adventure. I had prepared a repertoire of 12 tunes – a variety of originals and arrangements – and scheduled special guests and one of the best engineers over the past year. Tour Report #2

The adventure continued – come along on the road trip! Monday, September 26, we continued to Oberlin to present a clinic on Women in Jazz. It was quite an emotional day for our bassist Jennifer Vincent who found her love for jazz and her calling to be a jazz bassist as a student there and she hadn’t returned for 20 years. (more…)
